LOST CITIES
We navigated an unprecedented period in human history, facing the uncertainties of a post-Corona world. The pandemic had exposed our vulnerabilities, indicating that this crisis was a precursor to future challenges.
In this context, I have reflected on essential questions about architecture and public space. How do we balance communal needs with individual safety? If there’s a connection between democracy and public space, does social distancing imply a new form of control?
We must rethink housing as multifunctional spaces that support our daily lives and envision urban environments that empower citizens and foster solidarity. As Winston Churchill said, "We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us."
