T-SHIRTS
One of the major factors that form this mysterious city is the temporary events that happen all around the streets. These events are not only restricted to specific occasions like fashion, design and architectural events. However, they deal with daily life of people in all neighborhoods in different days of the week.
“Mercato” is a traditional neighborhood street market that takes place in most Italian municipalities and is as ancient as the cities themselves. These street markets are one of the places that people are selling, buying, eating and playing together with multiple nationalities.
An interesting point about these street markets is that they are like immigrants who travel from one point of the city to another. This form of immigration makes the streets livable with great atmosphere which invites people to spend their time not only to buy groceries, but also to socialize with different nationalities.
My story is depicted through one of these markets in ‘Via Valvassori Peroni’, a long wide street near Politecnico di Milano University, Leonardo campus. From the moment that you step into this market, you forget about from where you come and in which place you are. It brings you to a whole new world, just like Narnia’s wardrobe. Various kinds of food and drinks with people from different nationalities open a new world into normal streets, which you can never imagine how much interesting they can ever been if you just walk inside them in a normal day. These are all invisible streets of Milan which immigrate from place to place but if you once experience them, you never want to leave them.
